Which would you choose: Lang or Gadd?

All i have to say is i love Lang's, well, i love everything about him BUT, i have that old Vic Firth promo vid with a clip of the Gadd "In Session"... i have probably worn out that one 15 second clip to the point of the tape getting ready to fall apart. It gives me a musical stiffy in a way that nothing else does!

Try to catch the Eric Clapton tribute concert--it's about his foundation against drug use. Gadd, among others play to some great guitar players. All the axe players were selected by Clapton. Gadd plays to some familiar tunes, but I thought the way he played Cocaine interesting. He did not play it as a shuffle on the hats. He sounded really big with a more 2 & 4 approach. When I see Steve play like this, I try to imagine he's not GADD, but some drummer and get outside his playing to hear it freash. This gig is post surgery Gadd, so it was recent stuff.

Hello All-

I am wanting to purchase one or the other. I have not heard much in here about either. To those who have made the financial plunge on both, would you please offer your critique on which is more valuable? The real crux to me is whether the Vinnie footage on the Gadd DVD is that significant, ie. face time, info and "Vinnie" isms. If not, then the Lang one would seem a better purchase for me.

the vinnie footage is from the buddy rich memorial concert. it is old footage. the gadd dvd "in session." is pretty awesome though. not really a chops fest but is very musical, as you would expect from gadd.

If it's between the new Gadd "ADAA" DVD and Langs Creative Control, my vote is surely on The new Gadd DVD! I have both and they are good in their own right, but on Gadds you also get Vinnie, Marotta and a bunch of other great musicians.

I just played a gig with a bass player that recorded with Gadd and he said that every note Gadd played had the right sustain for the tempo.

He actually could control the length of the tone of his drums and cymbals to match the tempo and groove of the song!

The engineer didn't really have to mix his drums either since he had a perfect balance for all drums and cymbals in the mix.
